Migrating to Android 14

Overview

This guide provides important information about upgrading Zebra devices to Android 14. This upgrade process varies by device platform, and is documented accordingly.

6490 Upgrade Path

Migrating Zebra QC6490-platform devices to Android 14 from earlier Android versions requires multiple upgrade steps.

From Android 11

For QC6490 devices running Android 11, all devices must be updated to the September 2024 LifeGuard Update or later before upgrading to Android 14. Follow these steps:

  1. Upgrade to the September 2024 LifeGuard Update (AT_FULL_UPDATE_11-38-20.00-RG-U00-STD-ATH-04) or later version.
  2. Upgrade to any Android 14 LifeGuard Update version.

After upgrading to LifeGuard Update released in September 2024 or later, downgrading to an older version results in loss of user data and installed applications. Refer to the QC6490 OS Update instructions for more information.

From Android 13

For QC6490 devices running Android 13, all devices must be updated to the September 2024 LifeGuard Update or later before upgrading to Android 14. Follow these steps:

  1. Upgrade to the September 2024 LifeGuard Update (AT_FULL_UPDATE_13-33-18.00-TG-U00-STD-ATH-04 2024) or later version.
  2. Upgrade to any Android 14 LifeGuard Update version.

After upgrading to LifeGuard Update released in September 2024 or later, downgrading to an older version results in loss of user data and installed applications. Refer to the QC6490 OS Update instructions for more information.

6375 Upgrade Path

Migrating Zebra SM6375-platform devices to Android 14 from earlier Android versions requires multiple upgrade steps.

From Android 11

For SM6375 devices running Android 11, all devices must be updated to the October 2024 LifeGuard Update or later before upgrading to Android 14. The minimum required October LifeGuard Update versions are:

  • ET40, ET45: GO_FULL_UPDATE_11-38-25.00-RG-U00-STD-GSE-04
  • TC15, TN28: GR_FULL_UPDATE_11-38-25.00-RG-U00-STD-GRT-04

Follow these steps to perform the update:

  1. Upgrade to the October 2024 LifeGuard Update or later based on your device model.
  2. Upgrade to any Android 14 LifeGuard Update version.
